About Mary:
A native of St. John’s, Mary Barry is a nationally acclaimed award winning singer-songwriter who has thrilled audiences across Canada, the US and France, moving easily from blues & jazz to folk and ‘chanson’.
Barry is a bilingual artist who just released her fifth independent recording entitled “Legendary”, a mélange of traditional and contemporary Newfoundland music.
Recent performances include Tombolo Multicultural Festival; Tales, Trails & Tunes Festival; Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Festival; the St-Pierre & Miquelon Cultural Centre and the Place des Arts in Montreal. In 2010 she represented the province of Newfoundland & Labrador at the 2010 Vancouver Olympics, performing at Atlantic Canada House, La Place de la Francophonie and on the Air Canada stage.
Mary Barry is a four-time NL Arts & Letters award winner, and has twice been voted Newfoundland & Labradors's Female Artist of the Year as well as Jazz & Blues Artist of the Year by Music NL (the Music Industry Association of Newfoundland and Labrador). She took first prize in the CBC Atlantic Song Contest and is a three-time ECMA nominee.
