Join us for a literary afternoon that will take the audience to the extremes of the human environment, from living aboard ships in Antarctica to the work camps of Fort McMurray.

Poets Monica Kidd and Lindsay Bird will talk about and read from their new poetry collections that explore life on the edges, drawn from their own experiences.

Author bios:

Monica Kidd's fourth poetry collection, Chance Encounters with Wild Animals, was published by Gaspereau Press in 2019. A long-time resident of St. Johns, these days shes living with her family in Calgary, working as a family doctor and co-owner of Pedlar Press. She’s currently spending a good part of the summer at her family's cabin in the Bay of Exploits.

Lindsay Bird lives in Corner Brook, a journalist by day and poet by night. Her first poetry collection, Boom Time, was published by Gaspereau Press in 2019. The book explores one woman's journey through the work camps of Fort McMurray, a collection partly inspired by her own experiences there.
